Another important point with food is that squirrels should have gnawing possibilities.
The teeth of a squirrels grow about fifteen centimetres a year. Gnawing possibilities are therefor of great importance.
The following can be used as gnawing material: hard wood, sterilised cow hooves, gnawing material for rabbits, nuts in shell and twigs. One of the squirrels favourite gnaw material are willows branches.
