2.1 Ground cover

Squirrels regularly come onto the ground. You need to take this into account when choosing a ground cover. Good choices for ground cover are fine sand, beech tree sawdust or bark.

You also need to take into account the animals are most likely going to bury their food in this (as a reserve place / stash). The ground cover should be choses such that it does not influence the quality of the food.
