4.2 calcium
The squirrels get most nutrients from their food. However, extra calcium supply is necessary for the squirrels because they cant find enough in their food. Giving the calcium can happen in different ways. It is available in drops you can put over the food or mix into the water. It is also available in the shape of flour which you can mix with the food.
You can also buy mineral blocks for rodents. Besides having a feeding function they also have a gnawing function. Another option is to hang sepia (a component of squids) from the ceiling of the residence. The squirrels finds this very tasty, but it does require additional calcium supplements, because in the product itself is not enough calcium.
Especially during the summer months it is important to provide calcium in addition to the food. Calcium gives for a balanced diet and healthy bones.
Personally I use a gnawing stone. This natural product consist of mineral rich ingredients from calcified plants and animals. This mineral stone is a treat for my squirrels and boosts vitality and health.
